Oakley Court Wedding Photography

The Wedding of Emily & Sam Fanzo

Oakley Court is a Victorian Gothic country house set in 35 acres overlooking the River Thames in the beautiful Berkshire village Bray.

It was built in 1859 and is a Grade 11 listed building that has been used as a film location on many occasions but is now used as a luxury hotel & wonderful wedding venue.

Film Set

In August 1949 Oakley Court became the home to the famous film company Hammer Films who shot 5 films there with The Brides of Dracula (1962) being just one.

It is perhaps best known though as Dr. Frank N Furters castle (called The Frankenstein Place) in the Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) which starred Tim Curry, Richard O’Brian & Meat Loaf to name just a few. More recently in 1995 it featured as the “Laxton Grange Hotel” in the TV series Pie in the Sky starring Richard Griffiths.

The Day

Oakley Court is a wonderful venue and we always knew this was always going to be a great wedding and we weren’t disappointed!

The sun was shining when we arrived at Emily’s house and the bubbles were flowing with her and her bridesmaids fizzing with excitement.

The church that Emily & Sam chose for their wedding is an old Benedictine Monastary which was originally built for Napoleon’s wife when she was exiled from France.

Sam & his groomsmen arrived at the church just as the heavens opened but thankfully the rain was short lived and by the time Emily arrived in a wonderful vintage VW Campervan it had stop.

The service was really beautiful with an amazing chorister who’s voice sounded truly amazing in this wonderful old church.

After the ceremony and some quick photo’s outside the church, Emily & Sam climbed into their campervan for a short ride to nearby jetty where they boarded a wonderful old River Thames Cruiser which then took them to Oakley Court.

Holly & I arrived at Oakley Court just as the heavens opened again and whilst we sheltered from the rain waiting for Emily & Sam to arrive at Oakley Court the hotel quickly moved all the drinks and canapés back into the hotel.

Just as we saw the boat appearing round the bend of the river the sun came out and the Scottish Piper piped them onto the jetty at Oakley Court.

Following drinks on the lawn and a wonderful wedding breakfast we were able to snatch a few minutes Emily & Sam to take some portraits of the happy couple.

With the party underway and the dancing in full swing we said our goodbyes to what was a fabulous wedding.

We would like to thank Emily & Sam for asking us to capture their special day.
