The wedding of Suzi & Nick Spink

The beginning of August took us “Up North” to the Queens Hotel in Leeds for the wedding of Suzi & Nick Spink. If you haven’t seen the Queens it is a wonderful Art Deco hotel and perfectly fitted the theme of the wedding which was Hollywood. Suzi & Nick arrived at the hotel the night before for a family dinner. It was an early start with both Suzi & Nick getting ready at the hotel and the wedding ceremony starting at 11am. Suzi looked fabulous in her dress and Nick looked very cool in his Top Hat and Tails! Following the ceremony a drinks reception took place with music being played by an old antique wind up record player. After the drinks reception the guests went through to the magnificent dining room, decked out in true Hollywood style. After the wedding breakfast came the speeches along with presentation of the “Oscars”. We then had some time to take some photographs of Suzi & Nick along with some close relatives around the magnificent Art Deco decor public rooms. The evening session got started with each group of guests making their was down the “Red Carpet” and having their photograph taken. The ballroom looked amazing as the first dance got underway and dancing continued until the wee hours. We would really like to thank Suzi & Nick for allowing us to share and record their wonderful day.

The wedding of Bernadette & Martin Whipp

The last day of July took us to St Peters Church in Old Woking for the wedding of Bernadette & Martin Whipp. Bernadette got ready at their home which is literally round the corner from the church. The church is a wonderful old place and dates back to the 7th century and was mentioned in the Doomsday Book! Following the service we all travelled about 13 miles to the reception at the wonderful Losley Park. The wedding breakfast was held in the Tythe Barn and very close to the main house. Following the meal and speeches we were able to take Bernadette & Martin off to take some photographs around the main house and also in the fantastic walled gardens. The house is fantastic but sadly we were unable to go into the house as they were filming a BBC documentary so instead we spent most of our time in the White Garden which was truly stunning.
Following the photographs we went back to the barn to cut the cake and the first dance. We would like to thank Bernadette & Martin for inviting us to record what was a truly memorable day.

The Wedding of Stacey & Gert Matoshi

The end of May saw us at the Regency Parks Hotel Thatcham in Berkshire for the wedding of Stacey & Geart Matoshi . This was our first visit to this modern hotel. The weather forecast was due to be pretty good with some sunshine and light clouds and for once the forecast was correct! Stacey got ready at the hotel along with her bridesmaids who were also her sisters. Geart mingled with the guests before the ceremony. With the girls nearly ready everyone made their way to the wedding room for the ceremony. The bridesmaids looked terrific in their lovely blue dresses and Stacey looked stunning in her dress. Stacey’s bridesmaid & sister Kimberley has a wedding planning business and she had organised everything. The wedding breakfast room looked really cool and the sweet counter was a huge success. Following the service the wedding breakfast we were able to escape with Stacey & Geart to take some pictures in nice and quiet garden. The evening session got underway with more guests arriving along with the cutting of the cake and the first dance.
We would like to thank Stacey & Geart for inviting us to record what was a truly special day.

Wedding Photography Training

I am a firm believer that even as a professional photographer you should never stop trying to learn. With that in mind for the second time in less than 6 months I booked myself onto a Brett Harkness Wedding Photography training course. On both of these courses Brett has taught me to think outside the box and look for something different. As an example I use Off Camera Flash as a routine rather than an exception. This has helped me develop my “Style”. My real aim is to try and produce work that has a different “Feel” to the normal run of the mill wedding photography. By using flash to turn day into night, using different backgrounds and shooting techniques my aim is to produce work that my clients will treasure.

On Location – Twilight vampire shoot

For some while now I have had the idea of a shoot based around the theme of Vampires and Twilight films. I found a location near to me which is a very old mausoleum on Okham common.

For most of the shoot I was using Off Camera Flash as the light was very low. Deepi from Beauty Republic did the fantastic make up and Ben Madle did a fine job of the hair. My model on this occasion was Eloria Bennett.
